I've read a lot of reviews on this site and in my opinion, they'll probably all work. The true differences are ease of use and speed. But with a little practice, ease of use will all even out. Only the highest end vapes may be more precise on the temperature and faster to heat up and fill up bags or what not. It's totally up to you all what you value most in a vaporizer. It caame slow through ups as usual, but i opened it up, plugged it in and began. i started at 360* and moved up to 382/386* quickly. It was on tempature and putting off quality vapor. Although the quality of the vapor varies largly depending on your experience, you can turn an easy vape to a volcano by hitting it right... its main downfall is no heat up light, but once at temp (in about 3 min) it stays there so you dont need to when its heating up. No real fluctuation in tempature. 5 year warranty is about all you need, you will want another by then no matter what you buy. Which could take a few tries. First I was having trouble getting the blend to stay inside the whip while placing it on the unit, but I found that if I placed the unit on its side its more level. Or if I used the mouthpiece like a vacuum, the blend gets where it needs to go. I like the digital read out, but it resets every time I turn it on, which can be a little annoying. you just have to turn the knob a few times and you are back in business. Overall for the price it's a very good unit that produces a good vapor. This makes proper dossage and initial temperature setting difficult. Don't be fooled by the photos. You can't see through the whip. -The whip will arrive kinked. First off the tubing is softer than it should be allowing it to be packed bent in the box. This makes kinks in the hose, so the user is only able to sit right in front of the unit, with the whip stretched straight out in order to achieve air flow. I am making this assessment based my use of the hot box vaporizer, which has a more rigid, clear whip, nearly impossible to bend. -Temperature control resets. After turning off the unit, it will go back to 200 the next time you turn it on. Then you have to spin the wheel a bunch to get it up to temp. -whip 'bowl' too large. In order to keep the medicinals in the whip during use, I had to pack more than I could use in 3 sittings. I am a light weight. This again compared to the hot box vape. Most people would see this as an advantage, and will work in a party setting, but that's why I didn't get a volcanoe. -Narrowly focused heat. The center is where the heat hits. It's only about %50 the surface area of the bowl. That means stirring. Stirring is Not too hard, but be aware. -Angle of element means the substance can fall out easily, however the box is designed to make it easily retreivable with a pokey, or just tipping it out. Not really cons, but somethings of note -The screen in the whip is difficult to get to, or replace. -a light indicating temperature reached would be nice. -The box 'feels' cheap. In hind sight, wood or ceramic would be nicer. And now the pros: -Very efficient. I start at about 330, and then when the compounds start to get exhasted you can kick the temp up a bit to get it all out. -Total control of the temperature. Within 2 degrees...it's very cool. -Heats fast... about 3 times faster than hot box vape. -box does not get too hot. Because of the positioning of the element, it stays handle-able. -Affordable...comparatively. -Draws very smooth. It feels very pleasant to use. -Tastes great! Thats one of the reasons we're here, right? The ceramic element feels 'pure', sorry for the poor word choice. In conclusion: With a new whip, and a small features upgrade, this would be an unbeatable vaporizer. But When you buy a vape, you don't want to have to buy a brand new whip too, you know? You could just swap out the more sturdy clear tubing if you could find the size that fits the glass pieces. I'm really bummed about the rubber melting because the smoke shop won't replace it again because he says they are only supposed to warrant the heating element, not the rubber piece. I recieved it in the mail and turned it on and let the shipping oil burn off,tried it and fell in love. The design of the whip and the unit itself make it very easy to use hands free. with the whip detached it looks more like a piece of stereo equipment, than a vaporizer. All esstetics aside lets talk about performance. It takes about 2 to 5 minutes to heat up. THe pull is super smooth and allows for fast deep hauls or a nice light puff. its easy to fill and clean. With the digital tempurature control you can dail in the potency of you blend. I've found after fooling around with it for a month now that about 225 to 250 is a great setting for sore muscles or a bad headache. 280 to 300 degrees if good for a medium to heavy effect and well lets just say that 350 will melt you into your couch. I have found that it doubles the ptoency of my blend and I can still cook with the leftovers which I estimate combined with vaporizing it will increase yeild from a given amount by about two third. All in all this is the finest vaporizer that I have ever tried.
