As far as discrete portable vapes go, the OG iolite blew everything else out of the water. But looking back on it now, there's a couple of problems with it: it gets a little hotter than a lot of the newer guys, it takes about 3-5 clicks for it to go, and you can't see how much butane is left in it so there's a bit of guesswork involved. It's also mostly plastic. I recommend checking out the WISPR (by the same guys) because it is an "upgrade" of sorts, but it does cost some more dough. The pros and cons aren't all in favor of the WISPR though. As far as taste, I think the stainless steel filling chamber helped in providing me with the true flavor of my blend. Another unique feature of this Vaporizer is the flavor tips, I was using the mint one provided and it made my blend taste amazing! When I combined the flavor tip with the internal stir tool, I was able to vaporize for around 3-4 minutes before changing my blend out. The Iolite arrived yesterday. Although I've used it for only this short period, I have mastered the technique quickly. My successful approach has been: Load your tobacco; then, I recommend igniting the Iolite. Discipline yourself to let it warm up a bit (this is crucial)...it's not going to be a perfect draw if you instead flip it on, and hit it immediately after the glow dims. You may safely hold the unit in your hand during the warm up. Following this warm up, begin to draw GENTLY on the Iolite. This needs to be done wispy and lightly, and inhale in this manner as long as you wish. You are not trying to pull a golf ball through a garden hose! Toking it too hard seems to not yield either more, or better, product. I have found the above technique to generate a nice, nice product. I did not rate the Iolite at all 5s, for there is yet an unknown me providing a valid review: Airports. I am hoping that this unit, when cleaned, and with the butane evacuated, can be placed in checked bags, without risking a scene..(??) A few insights: I find a lower heat setting around 350 keeps the herb from getting scorched and may extend the effectiveness of the herb. While the handiness of the battery allows one to use it w/out a power source you likely will only get 2-3 short sessions out of the battery before you'll need a recharge---don't expect to take a 5 day back packing trip with it unless you have a solar charger. Also it is a little slow to get all the way up to temp w/the battery--even more reason to use a little lower temp. Don't worry tho, every thing including you, gets cooked at sub 350F. Road trips, however, are quite enjoyable with a DC inverter ($12) or the optional car charger. Allowing 15-30 seconds before drawing each time will give excellent hits and be careful cause you can get pretty vaped with a half dozen pulls. Customer service: after 6 months of consistent use the device was left on and apparently the unit did not shut off as it is supposed to do. Therefore it acted erratically before dying completely. I notified the company, they determined from the number on the unit that it was purchased directly from them and said to just pack up the unit, battery and charger and send it back. Couple of days later I received a tracking number and after 6 days had a new (factory refurbished?) unit in a new box with all brand new accoutrements! It is charging now but does turn on--I'm sure it will work fine. Nice work Vapir! A couple of suggestions: buy it from Vapir and you may not get a great deal but they may be more willing to replace it (if it dies less than a year in) for those that don't use a reseller. Also when you buy your NO2 be sure to REGISTER THE WARRANTY ONLINE WITHIN 15 DAYS OF RECIEVING YOUR UNIT. If you don't that may be a deal-breaker if you do not purchase it from Vapir. The vapor was surprisingly dense, considering its coming from this little wood box. The Launch Box heats up fairly quick, but is pretty awkward having to hold a AA battery up to the unit. Speaking of the batteries, they are rechargeable, with charger included. I must say the batteries do die somewhat quick, but 2 are included with every unit so its not to bad. I am fully impressed. Make sure to let it heat a minimum of three (3) cycles and you are good to go( be certain to know your limit or you may over medicate). i was skeptical up till the point when i used the Iolite then all that went right out the window. Huge plumes of vapor( if your not getting it w8 a few it will heat and you will get).Be sure to draw slow but put a little into it.A full bowl should last bout a half (1/2) hour, If you purchase the optimizer ( I recomend) your bowl will not last as long but will almost hurt you once full heat is reached. Those are larger and require a flame. You taste the butane. I also read a lot of reviews before I purchased my Magic Flight Box and those didn't have very good reviews. I have a VaporGenie and it sucks! I only used it a couple of times and I hate it. Tastes like flame. Couldn't even turn it into a regular pipe either. Ok, for me the Magic Flight Box it really shines when I am away from home. When I am at my sister's house, I'll pull it out in the open while she leaves the room for a few minutes, hold my breath and then exhale after she returns. No smoke, no breath mints for my breath, etc. No one suspects anything. I can also go into a restroom, like on a bus, and do a few vapes, then walk back down the aisle still holding my breath. Not so great at home though. Not the same kind of effect. But this is exactly what I was looking for when I purchased the MFB. It works perfect for that reason and does a good job getting me vaped discretely. As far as quality, I have never seen vapor when I exhaled. The taste is ok on the first couple of hits. I usually hold the battery in longer than 5 minutes before my hit because I want as dense vapor as possible. By that time I get a burnt taste, still without vapor, which means you are getting a vapor holding the battery in for less time prior. I have the quick charge unit, so charging isn't a problem. But it does work. I do wish I could get a denser vapor, even if it means getting only 2 hits off of one load. No comparison to a larger non-portible vaporizer. But this is great as a healthy alternative to one hitters/etc. No comparison to a bong either, even though the people at Magic Box say it is. I love it for what it is. As I said before, you can't compare it to a Vapor Genie or Lolite. Only now am I beginning to have to roll joints or borrow someones bong to get super high. I still get high from vaping but not to the same extent as I can with real smoke. The coolest thing about the magic flight is how much less product I use. The leftover vaped weed can be used to make pretty decent edibles too! NO LIGHTER NEEDED! That is a big deal, iolites have burnt my hand while I was exploring my consciousness. The magic flight is speedy, stealthy, and well built. I have used in public almost all over Portland. Most people have no idea what you are doing with a block of wood and a battery up to your mouth. The lifetime warranty it boasts makes me feel better about my purchase. While the magic flight is great for concealment, it is just too small to be used all the time. At home, it is a very involved process. Charge batteries, grind product, carefully load vape, puff....puff....puff....puff, unload, change batteries, reload. I need something that can deliver bigger hits for home use. The batteries I purchased with the unit are pretty tuckered out now. So there is also the expense of a new $5 battery every now and then. When used as a sidekick, the Magic Flight is amazing. Single handedly the best portable vape I have every used! The magic flight is no protagonist though. This thing is great, maybe just not as foolproof as others. It vaps very quickly and effectively and have never once had combustion. The fact that the Vap starts in 3-5 seconds is great but it also means its more prone to user error. If you wait a few seconds too long it will get too hot. I press the battery, count to 5 seconds and hold the battery till the count reaches 12-15 and continue to draw beyond that. Its simple, well designed, very durable and super stealth. No lighter or butane is a big plus. Batteries last surprisingly long. The arrow is not easy to see, and I was told to quickly line up the arrow, to put the mouth piece on, after you load it. Well the medicine is burning, while I am lining up the arrow. Someone tell me, does it really matter which way the mouth piece goes? Changing the screen is a nightmirror. I am hoping I still don't have it in right and that is why it is not working so great. The picture in the manual is worthless, I even tried the Spanish section! The folks at the festival said to put 2 scoups of medicine in. That is what I was doing before reading the book. Well the book says not to put too much in, as it restricts the air movement and will not smoke correctly. So I thought that was the problem. Now I think that was only one of the problems. I have been so busy trying to put out fires, (haha) that I never read the warranty info. It states, "must be completed within 15days". Sure would have been nice to have been told that when I purchased it. I attempted to register it anyway, as there is no date on my receipt, well you have to download a copy of the receipt or the warranty is not valid. Come on now, I can't even get the vipe to work, and they want expect me to know how to download a receipt. I am serious. I was not told that I needed a computer, internet and knowledge on downloading or uploading a recipt. It heats quickly, You can't always see much vapor on exhalation but you get tore up. Today it is an inferior product and probably the worst unit Vapir makes. My advice if your interested in a vape that is smaller, much more portable, and looks less like a thermos go with the NO2. The reason I chose this section to big up the NO2 was to help anyone who was going to make the mistake of buying this unit.
