Nearly 43 years ago I began smoking. That was a few years before I took my GED and at 17, joined the US Army where I served two tours of duty in Vietnam. In 1972 as a part of a reduction in force, I came back to America and went back to work.

I never stopped smoking and as a matter of fact was now up to a few packs a day of unfiltered cigarettes faithfully. Skip forward 30 years and now I have health issues related to abusing my body for years and years.

I knew I had acid reflux for the past few years and was taking prescription medication to combat these problems. I underwent and endoscopy and they discovered pre-cancer cells.

This was a huge wake up call and the new prescriptions I received were causing some pretty nasty side effects. I knew from time in Vietnam that eastern culture believed in holistic medicines. I had tried everything available in the western medicines, so I decided to try herbs that had been helping natives of the far east for thousands of years.

Doing a little research I found a abundance of available herbs that could possibly help me. But how should I ingest these herbs? I had several options:

• Intravenously
• Grinding Finely and Making Capsules
• Cooked w/ Meals
• Tinctures
• Smoking

I tried everything but intravenous usage, always made me queasy. I found that the capsules were fine, but smoking some of the herbs was preferable.

I kept seeing my primary care physician, an acquaintance of almost 20 years, one visit when I was discussing my use of alternative medicines. My Doctor confided in me the she had been utilizing another means of ingestion, Vaporization.

This surprised me as the only vaporizers I’d ever heard of were used by my wife on our children when they had colds, so I was puzzled.  The Doctor went on to let me know that it was essentially the same device but in a more direct application.

She explained that vaporization heated up herbs to a point just under combustion that allowed the active ingredients to be extracted from my herbs without the negative by products associated with smoking.

It goes without saying that with such a glowing recommendation I went right home and started searching. I googled “vaporizer” and quickly bought my first vaporizer.

I bought and entry level vaporizer that I was extremely happy with. One thing I really couldn’t seem to find was a site that provided USER REVIEWS, I got to see the company’s opinion but I wanted to know what someone like myself thought.

Since then, I’ve quit smoking all together. I’ve found different herbs that were very effective in combating my symptoms and I’m happy to say that I haven’t felt this good since I was a young man.

So I’ve continued using my vaporizer as well as tested and purchased several more since then.

I found some superb vaporizers and some terrible ones. But I wished I could share my information and lessons learned with others.

Since I’m retired now, I’m on a fixed income. I wanted to create a vaporizer community where we could all share ideas, good or bad. But this idea had some real costs involved, so I had to get some outside help.
